Mission & Vision
Two short statements that shape every decision we make, from how we design a session to how we lay out a room.
Our Mission
To run an inclusive, accessible gaming space where disabled and neurodivergent individuals can connect, build confidence, and experience social interaction in a way that works for them. Without feeling judged, rushed or excluded. That means providing accessible equipment, knowledgeable support and an environment designed around different needs.
Our Vision
A future where gaming spaces are fully inclusive, widely available, and recognised as a powerful tool for social connection and mental wellbeing, regardless of experience or ability. We want what we learn at PlayAble to go further than our own venue, helping families, professionals and organisations understand how gaming can be made more accessible.
What we hold ourselves to
Four principles that guide every session, every piece of kit we buy, and every decision about the venue.
Inclusion from the start
Accessibility shouldn't be an afterthought. We think about different needs from the beginning and adapt what we do around the person, rather than expecting people to fit around us.
Independence
We want people to have as much choice and control as possible. Our support and technology are there to remove barriers and help people play in the way that works for them.
Community
Gaming is better when it brings people together. We create opportunities to play, share interests, meet people and build connections.
Always learning
Accessible gaming and technology are constantly developing, and so are we. We listen to our community, try new equipment and approaches, and keep looking for ways to make PlayAble more accessible.
The value of play
Gaming is so much more than entertainment. Research is increasingly exploring how play and gaming can support social connection, wellbeing, confidence, learning and the development of different skills.
We've brought together some of that research and made it easier to explore, with information for players, parents and carers, and professionals.
See our mission in action
The best way to understand what we mean by all this is to visit a session.
